cool. thanks for the info, thats rpetty much answered my questions. i had a feeling that they might lighten like diamonds do but there didnt seem to be any real info on it. are you breeding any this season? im hopeing to get a prob a md (maybe diamond or bredli) some time early this coming season but it depends on the damilies acceptance still but it would be good to know some1 whose breedin.
how old are ur two adults in the pics? is the change from hatchi colour to adult fast and at a generally set age or does it happen gradually?

I'm giving all my girls a break so no breeding until next season.
The colour change is gradual like diamonds. I can never remember how long it takes but I'd guess by about a year they'll have coloured up, maybe more (sorry).

My female is 5yrs old and the male I'm not 100% because I bought him as an adult, but I think I got told 5-6yrs old aswell.

There will be plenty of them around for sale around March/April next year so you shouldn't have any problems finding one if you're allowed
You're in Melb. so Pails atleast will have some local.

Glad I could help

MD stands for Murray Darling. they are also called inland carpets. these names come from locality, ie inland aus and specifically in the murray darling basin. they are carpets as are coastals, that is why they look so similar. scientific name is Morelia Spilota Metcalfei if ur interested
