hi to all discovered today that one my male breeding mice has lice or mites what is the treatment for this as i have never had it before he was a new male.

Hi Mick
There seems to be a rodent mite getting around at the moment. A few larger rodent breeders have been affected but if you can separate the male asap and quarantine the cage he was in then there is no reason you can't eradicate it. I'm not sure on the treatment but I will look into it and get back to you.....
Someone else may have a solution for you....

I had this problem - used top of descent and cleaned everything out and it worked perfectly, mites all gone and mice fine.

You can buy rodent mite spray also, most petshops carry it

take the substrate out and burn it (if possible).
take a hose to the enclosure and spray every where with your thumb/finger partly over the nosle so it has a high presure and the water comes out faster.
give all your mice that have made contact/been in same cage as your male and give them a bath in hot water, but not to hot to burn them.
