| | | Mixing Children's pythons
hi all,
Can you mix different species of Children's Python (same sex) in one habitat, if you feed separately? I was thinking of mixing a Mac and a Stimmy.
Ta!

They all used to be called Childrens Pythons to be fair.

I personally wouldn't have snakes sharing an enclosure unless it was mating time. And if the pythons are both males there's alwasy the possibility they'll combat if they're sexually mature.
I think on some of the (in dire need of updating) species lists they're still referred to as such Boa. Seem to remember that not long ago a new keeper was a bit confused about that particular issue as his species list showed his Maccie as being a Childrens. Apparently the "experts" know better though and it's now become necessary to talk down to people who may suffer some confusion on that issue....

Sheesh person- I am fully aware of the three different pythons also known as "Children's Pythons", (lemme see- Childreni- very rare according to some, but often mistaken for others), stimson's and maculosis), their sizes, habitats and original ranges, relative temperaments, coloration and even the fact that many many people reckon they keep members of the same species together in colonies year round. LOL- I didn't realize I needed my flame suit on. It was the fact that I DO know that there are three dwarf pythons commonly referred to as Children's (not including the fourth Australian dwarf) who are commonly referred to as one species (much as all morelia spp. are called carpet snakes) that led me to ask if you could keep members of the DIFFERENT species together. Therefore clearly I understand that the term CHILDREN'S is being used as a euphemism for a group of closely related and yet distinct species of python.

Anyhow, thanks for the advice all. I was really just curious!
