i agree with scotchbo, Diamonds are magnificent snakes as far as temperament and handling go. But there are always grumpy snakes around......................

Get a Diamond, mate. It was our first snake and she has never even hinted at biting. Eats like a champion, too.

I'd also like to know, though I'm not a big fan of diamond pythons. What's everyone think of bredli?

Bredli are generally placid, although very snappy as hatchlings.

Yes they are great snakes but as far as being easy to keep your better trying for something else as a first snake. Diamonds are less hardy than other carpets. Cape Yorks in my opinion are fantastic first snakes- they can get to a decent size and come in a variety of beautiful colours. I've never known one to be agressive but they do enjoy their food. BROWNS on this site is selling Cape Yorks at a reasonable price and they look great.
Other species that are ok for a first snake are coastals, bredl's, and murray darlings. Spotted Pythons are also good if your after a smaller snake but i find that Children's Pythons can be finnicky feeders.

Simone.

It doesn't have to be hazzard, you can get pills for that now.

my little MD would be perfect for a first snake! He only bites you about 20 times in 1 minute and strikes at you inside his click clack inside of the enclosure when you walk past the enclosure

But seriously.. I got a Stimson Python as my first snake and she has had the nicest temperment from day one, she has never striked or bitten and is just so placid, you can even hold her head and she doesn't care.
