| | | Hi All,
I have a 4ft childrens python that loves his mice, yesterday bought a wopper for him and he wouldn't have any part of it. My question is do they judge the size of it before they go in? Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks Guys
P.S My first post hope it all worked out |

There is nothing wrong with buying live mice for your snake, so long as you don't feed it to your snake alive - at least not from a moral or legal standpoint. You must however ensure you kill the mouse before feeding it to the snake. A freshly killed mouse would almost certainly be as appertising to your snake as a live mouse. There are many ways to kill a mouse humanely - do some research on this site and I'm sure you'll find the most suitable method for you.
Once you get your snake feeding on freshly killed mice, you might be able to coax him into eating freshly defrosted.
Good luck.
BTW, the mouse looks small enough for a snake the size of yours. Quote:

| | | | Thanks spilota for not coming out in a full out assault, this my first snake i've had him for four years and use this site all the time for info and its a bit dishartening when i'm getting told off for doing the only thing that worked at the time. This is the first question i've asked and IF i ask for help again i'll have to make sure its not a question that makes such a fuss.
Thanks again spilota |

...if you are having trouble weaning a mouse onto fresh-killed or thawed that is the question to ask - it is always possible to wean them, merely needs some time and effort...

Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't let the response of some lessen your interest in snakes Good luck with your snake.
