hi just wondering can young pythons swin. yesterday i filled my laundry sink with warm water bout 3inch an thought i let my bredli hachie which he,s bout 3months old have a swim ,when i put him in he went straight under an started thrushin round under water goin upside down then bubbles comin out he,s mouth .i didnt take chance so grabed him out didnt want 2 risk him drownin. has this eva happened to anyone else before?or is it just mine cant swim yet, i would like to know you guys thoughts on it or had any simular experinces thanks.

thats silly mate, just put some water in a shallow bowl in his tank he will swim when he wants to, 3 inches is VERY deep for a little snake

it pooped on itself i mad mistake it wasnt 3inches water just coverin him someone told me they could swim so as they hached ill never do that again

Yeah mate i think the problem was that you put him in the water they are not an aquatic animal, also possibly the water could have been too hot for him as you saud that the water was warm. Just give him a large enough water bowl to get into and see if he wants to. Some snakes like it some don't.
but never just dump your snake into water, they will react badly.

Just keep an eye on him mate incase he swallowed some water...if he starts getting weasy or making clicky noises, increase your heat a little and/or vet.

i have put my bredli in the bath. just really really luke warm water and about 2 inches deep. snakey just swam up and down. i put him in there for the same reason which was he had shat all over himself plus the stench of snake wee.he seem to like it

Water temp is pretty critical if you don't want to shock your snake, which may have happened here Sam. Just luke-warm is usually fine, but they may still react with a panic response, you need to lower them in gently so they get used to the idea. Some animals love it, some like it some of the time and will react adversely when first in contact with water. Bigger snakes seem more comfortable in water in my experience, so maybe till he gets a bit of size on him just wipe him down with a damp paper towel if he poops himself again!
