First Enclosure Pics

Here are some pics of my first snake enclosure awaiting my very first snake. It is a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft tank ventilated with a 100watt heat globe and a 4ft uvb light on top. The only thing i would like to add to it is a bit of greenery i'm just unsusre about real or fake plants. If anyone has any ideas about how i could improve this enclosure i would be happy to hear it thanks.

Throw it away and buy a nice melamine or hard wood enclosure that will hold the heat better...lol

dont worry bout the other comments, glass tanks are fine, i have never used them for snakes but i use them for my dragons which need alot more heat then snakes do. Its looking good, if your not 100% decided about a snake yet some netted dragons would look nice in there

my preference would have been a melamine enclosure but i worked with what i had. And yes it used to be a fish tank but it still holds it's temperature very well even when i had the whole house at 16 degeees i don't think i'll have a problem in winter either. I am picking my blonde mac up as soon as my license arrives. It's only 4 months old so it'll be living in a click clack for the rest of the year but i might give him some play time.

Looks great! Only concern i'd have is the 100w heat lamp. Give it a test with a thermometer well in advance of putting a reptile in there. A dimming thermostat works with heat lamps to keep the temps under control. Nice work and good luck!

yeah thanks akira. temps directly under the globe on the floor has only ever reached 35 degrees i will be purchasing a thermostat in the next few days to ensure temps are right where i want them. if any one could suggest a great brand and model number that would be terrific. It has to be a pulsing thermostat though because i dont want the light flicking on and off all day. Cheers

Looks very nice indeed.
Be very carefull with the red sand as substrate, especially when feeding.
Look at the microclimate range for a thermostat.
Cheers.

Looks great Banshee

Ignore auzlizardkings comments, for some reason he only ever has negative things to say about glass enclosures ( could be the fact he sells wooden ones)

Yes, the glass tanks are fine. In fact, melamine is for kitchens.

Looks good.
I like the HabiStat thermostats. The Herp Shop has them. Use the dimming type not pulsing for the heat lamp.
Fake plants would be the way to go. You can really only keep a few hardy live plants in a more humid set up for an animal which requires it.
