My first MD clutches

Hi all,
Last week produced a first for me. On Sunday last week, one of my female SA Murray Darlings laid a clutch of 25, 24 of which were fertile. These eggs were dicovered after a long day at work and were quickly put into the incubator (sorry no photos). Then on the following Tuesday, once again I had an early start workwise, but checked my big girl before I left, she hadn't laid anything, but when I got home I was greeted with the following.

Thanks Kyro. Both mums were brilliant and not once did either even look like they were going to bite when I removed them from their clutch.

I have heard of a bigger clutch of about 40 eggs down here, so it is possible that they could lay more, it depends on the size of the female I guess. That clutch in the photo has about mid 30 eggs, there are a couple of slugs as you can see. The funny thing is that the father of the 2 clutches is only 2 1/2 years old and about 4 1/2 feet long. I have some pictures of a mating, which I will post after I have resized them.

Yeah I am thinking I might buy a couple of pairs of mice and set them up so I can start getting some pinkies in the freezer in preperation. Plus I always have other mouths that will happily take a pinkie or 2.

Well Done Daniel What a big clutch!!! If you get stock with mice or rats just give us a call and I can put you on to wayne, he's a local breeder and has some rodent stock happening atm, you won't be disappointed with his quality and price and will normally deliver.

Good Luck with your incubation!
Joel

Thanks for all your comments. Jus to answer a few questions.
The clutch should hatch very early January and I'll definielty be selling for those who are interested.
Thanks for that Joel, I might be in touch. I'm going to ask Steve if I can get some mice from him first for breeders, but the place where I normally get rats has put their price up again, so I might be looking for a different supplier of frozen goods so to speak.
