My new A. maculosa

Hi there,

last days I got my new Antaresia maculosa, but in the breeders certificate is located, it´s an Liasis childreni. I know the old taxonomic, and the story about it.

But the worm looks like A. maculosa, born on august, the 18th last year.

Here´s one pic

What are you thinking?

Cheers

Michael

It certainly does look like a mac to me .. A nice one at that Vinterland!

And 'sevrum', "what he wants" is people not hijacking his thread with pictures of their own animals....

Agreed! He'd probably also like to not be told "what he wants"

Definitely an Antaresia maculosus. Pretty one too.

How can you say definatly a mac, it's not even an australian line, theres no info on it, you can't base everything on looks.

I'm not saying it's not a mac but to say 'definatly' is silly, you'd have to be a big breeder or have studied them or somthing.
I've seen adult childrens from reputable breeders that look like macs, but are in fact childreni.

Hi

Thanks for answering.
He is born one year ago (18.08.06), and I think, he is 50cm long.
I´ll measure him next days.

Last week, I got my example from the little book; keeping and breeding childrens python, I read it but I found only about the different between A. maculosa and A. chlidreni, there length and colour.
How can I be safe, what is childreni and maculosa? Only to count the loreale sheds, between the eye and the nose opening, or something more?
I know, they´re from different european lines.
I know the problematic too, about the breedings before 1985, where all they called Liasis childreni.

One pic from him, looks like maculosa...

Cheers

Michael
