Hi guys
Just got a couple of little carpets and thought I would post a couple of pics....
The black one is the female.
can anyone positively identify which type of carpets they might be

They came from the same clutch and were sold to me as morellia spiloita so don't know the correct sub species just that they are carpets.....Have only been into the herp world for about 2 years and don't have the knoweledge to identify them properley.

Gday Ozz Animal,NSW people would say they are carpets and those interstate would probably think they were diamonds,this is the internet so you can make them what you want,what do you want them to be its nearly xmas!!

why is the female black and the other is brown when they are from the smae clutch?? can anyone explain that to me please

Well there you go, they come from the same clutch, same parents and they can look as different as chalk and cheese. It would be impossible for anyone to give a definate locality specific sub species from a photo. I would just call them carpets for now..lol.

hehe, my friends bought a palmerston hatchlin and he looked like the female up above, thats why i ask earlier, who knows maybe one of the is a hyper? or hypo?

Probably because their parents are a Coastal and a Murray Darling or something....
its obvious clutchmates have a huge variation in Coastals especially. But if he has them under that class, it means there probably hybrids.. Lets hope not..

I think your right and I will just have to not use them for breeding unless with each other although I don't want to do that as they are direct siblings...any info on that subject would be great. I have been told that reptiles are diff from other animal and that to mate them with each other does not hurt them or the offspring....but this was just what someone has written on a forum.
