Nothing is worth jeopordising your health....I think your wife has the right idea. I am sure that you would want to be around for a long time. Maybe you could sell your RBB to a friend so that you can still have access to seeing it and knowing that it has a great home.

Hey can you blame her, after watching you go through that??
But seriously if you want to keep the snake, grow a pair and tell her that.
Getting bitten was always a serious possibility and a not so nice prospect when you choose to keep vens.

Hey mate, thats too bad. It is fair enough though I reckon.

I have decided to sell my vens, and it's because of my family. My dad just can't handle the fact that I keep them, and he has a bad heart. It affects our relationship at times.

I decided before Glenns experience that I was going to sell them - it was actually after seeing David Williams get tagged and the emotions of being so close to death. But after seeing what Glenn went through, it really hit home to me the fact that you put your family through hell, and I love them too much to risk that. I have too many other animals that I really love, and that rely on me being there to look after them.

Anyway good luck mate. Your family is much more important

When you got the snake there was a high risk in it if she wasn't worried when you got him/her why is she worried now?
and which do you like more?
your wife or your snake?

Before you keep vens, you do consider the fact that one day you might get tagged, and end up very sick, and possibly with lasting effects, but for me, I didn't consider (hard enough anyway) the roll on effects that it can have on your family and life. You live and you learn, and for me, other peoples experiences (thankfully) made me change my mind on how I feel about keeping them. I really love my little tiger - he's awesome, but it's just not worth the risk for me anymore.

I would have thought that all of this would have come into consideration well and truly before you bought vens.....Its really frustrates me that people get any kind of herp without fully thinking it through and realising the impact on you and your family....they are an animal not a commodity....Its not rocket science, if you keep vens there is a risk that you will get tagged and in getting tagged you WILL become sick at least...........

I don't know why I bother posting on this site. No harm done, I had a great experience with them, and learnt alot - not just about the snakes, but within myself. I said that I did think it through, and consider the possibilities, but my feelings CHANGED after certain experiences. There is nothing wrong with that.......... ...

Fred - You can think it through all your like - but I imagine taking a bite would have a much more 'real' effect than thinking about taking a bite...and the effect this has on your family is something you would not be able to predict regardless of the forethought...

It's not hard to make fun of a 12 year old. I have advised Willia to put his age on his profile so hopefully people will be a little more tolerant.

It is school holidays after all.
