hi there
im geting a bredli hatceling next year
i been shopping for a enclosure
and i think i found myself one but some things worry me
its 1000x700x500 so it mite just be slightly small for a grown up
but that give me 3 years atleast
wat you guys think is this good for adult size too?
its only got 1 light which is one of those red heat lamps
not the party glob
i hear they heat up quite hot and it has one of those cages around the light
just wondering if the cages heat up and would it burn the snake?
only has one big vent in the rear
and has plexi glass as door
looking forward to replys

HI Bluebear. If you are gettign a hatchie then all you need is a tub for the first year, you have plenty of time to determine yoru adult cage. then it could go into something like you have. But as an Adult he will need something larger. They are arboreal so it is good to have height although I have seen plenty of them successfully kept in low enclosures. The problem you may have with a higher enclosure is getting a proper thermal gradient.
As for the light. You will be fine with the light cage. The vents and doors are fine but make sure he cant squeeze between the doors as the acrylic is flexible. You may also need a daylight fluro.
You will also need to experiment with different wattage globes to determine which one gives you the best temperature range.
Mate, if you hang around here ;long enough you will have all the knowledge you need about yoru cages long before yoru python grows out of his tub.

Thats cool mate but the heat mat is still better as it gives you a better gradient. And after yo do this you will be hooked and you will therefore always find a need for a heat mat. Also, you can get cheap heat cords that will also do a great job. You dont need many watts for a tub.
