Need ID on adder

Hi,

I need some help on this.
I found this little guy/girl at the Paluma Ranges.
Is this an antarcticus or a praelongus?
Their ranges overlap around there, I think.

Cheers,
Johan.

Hi Johan, looks like antarticus to me, looks smoother than praelongus, maybe its an intergrade.

Yes the smoothness is exactly why I am unsure if it is a praelongus. However the pattern reminds me a lot of the ones I have caught in Northern QLD, especially the bandings just behind the head.

Hi folks,

Judging from the absence of strong keeling on the Paluma specimen I suspect that it is A. antarcticus, and based on the strong keeling of the lighter coloured scales in the photo posted by Browns, his snake is A. praelongus.

Cheers
