Thought it was worth an update, as I'm quite pleased at the moment. I'd previously posted about my little spaz of a snake, Phoenix; who is an 8mth old Darwin with serious attitude issues. Since talking to people here I've given him more hides and left him alone for over a week with no interaction, and when I realized that it wasn't really helping his levels of stress, I set up a clickclack for him a few days ago, and WOW it's made a difference. He's still very quick to get into an 'S' curve, and is obviously a bit of a nervous snake either way, but no biting today!
APS member disasterpiece7.0 came by today to look at my setup, and help me a bit with Phoenix. Huge thankyou to him! It's good to just have someone there to talk to about the snakes, and I got up the nerve to hold Pheonix a few times with him there. It's hard, because my partner's not too keen on snakes (though he will nervously hold a friendly snake for a few moments) so he's not really able to help with my confidence when dealing with a cranky young snake.
Also, because I'm excited, I looked at another male Darwin today and put down a deposit. He's on sale from a member here, 18 mths old, and a complete 'puppy' of a snake, like my girl. I'm really excited!
It's an addiction. I managed 5 months before getting my second, and now ONE month before putting a deposit on my third, and I'll have my fourth (an 18 mth old Bredli) in another two months!
