Newbie question, on my bredli

Hello to all
Ive been reading the forum for a few weeks now, and as a newbie have got a nice list of questions for all you wise wise people. (love reading all your advice, and trying to figure out some of the weird stuff that goes on too!)
so heres my little query:
i have a bredli, beautiful boy he is, named chester, about 2 and a half years old now. he just shed the other day and measures 155cm. A local aquarium has 2 male bredlis for sale, and they are labelled 2 years old, however they are huge compared to my little mate. their heads are easily twice the size and i'd estimate a length of 2 meters+.
now my question, is chester too small for his age? or could these males have been powerfed for selling?
i freaked out a bit thinking i was underfeeding him. but i dont think i am, as he is a pretty happy snake. he used to get fed 2 adult mice every 2 weeks, now have moved him up to 1 weanling rat.
please tell me im doing the right thing by him? i dont want him to get small man syndrome.
ill chuck in a pic of him too, since im introducing him too

RE: Newbie question, on my bredli

He looks pretty good to me mate. He is a very well proportioned snake. Snakes lengths are governed mainly by their food intake. Snakes raised slowly tend to be healthier and live longer. It's very hard to underfeed a snake while its very easy to overfeed.

However adult mice are prob a bit small for your snake, so its good you have moved him onto rats.

RE: Newbie question, on my bredli

ah lovely reply, thats what i was hoping to hear.
yeah i figured he was beyond mice, as they were no challenge what-so-ever. mind you, it took him half an hour to get down the rat first time. but he managed.
thanks heaps, you made me feel much better

I was having this same discussion about Bredli last night. You have a beautifully proportioned animal that should live a long healthy life (barring illness) and breed very well. It is widely known in the scientific community that Bredli don't wild breed until about age 5. Don't be in a rush, length sounds spot-on for it's age.

There are always bigger animals out there, only last night I heard of a ridiculous Maccie tipping the scales at 2kg (breeding at 12 months, simply outrageous).

I agree that rats are the way to go. A more complete meal nutritionally and obviously you can feed less times (when on rats)

Keep up the good work

Thanks Hazzard. At least i know its ok for him to be smaller (than some) Maybe some people have no patience.
and yes josho, they were in frankston. apparently some guy has bought one of the males and the female to breed, at only 2 years old. ah vell...
