Hi guys,
Are the so-called Golden Tree Snakes below (pictures thanks to Gillsy and Miss_Stripey) officially a ...
Common Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis punctulata)
or a ...
Northern Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis calligastra)?
And if it's not a Northern Tree Snake, can someone please show me an example?
Thanks,
Nic

That's a golden tree snake Dendrelaphis punctulata. I catch heaps of them, they are just a different colour phase to the greens.

Magpie put up some photos of a D. calligastra not long ago. Check the Field herping forum.

Thanks guys,
Since I'd never seen mention of the Northern Tree Snake, apart from the DSE taxa list, and the Golden form is typically found up North, I've always wondered whether it was actually a different species.
Cheers,
Nic
P.S. Here's one of Magpie's pictures ...
