I've noticed the more I see hatchling Olive pythons the more I'm seeing under-bite's. Is this common with olive hatchlings? is it something that grows out of them? An interbred problem maybe? By under-bite I mean the lower jaw isn't as long as the top jaw.
cheers
mark

Do you mean like noticeable a lot shorter than the top jaw? Mine look normal, but aren't their bottom jaw meant to sit inside their top jaw. Here's a couple pics of mine but they aren't babies. They bit under 8 foot long. Perhaps you could post some pics to show us what you're talking about. Then I can look out for it in my babies when I breed mine.

Actually Fennwick isn't an over-bite when the bottom jaw comes over the top jaw?
Or no, undershot means that eh? So maybe you're right. Underbite might be the same ah well, we knew what he meant

I have a female (about 8 mths old) that appears to slightly suffer from the same, however the male I bought from the same breeder looks fine. It is only minor, and as she grows I think the so-called underbite is diminishing. I also had trouble with her eating although she is seriously on the improve.

Her underbite (or overbite) has completely disappeared now.

I have seen it quite a few times over the years, and yes its always with Olives. It has nothing to do with inbreeding as totally unrelated parents throw it. Its just something for some strange reason happens to a hatchling. Unless its servere they appear to grow out of it.
