Olives/Scrubs

Hi,

With the wealth of knowledge on this site, can someone give info about the size differences and different characteristics of each snake.

I hear Olives are gentle giants, and scrubs are generally more agressive. (I understand these are generalisations).

Thanks

David.

Both are big pythons but most agree that olives (not Pilbara) max out at around 4m while scrubs can be even longer - 6m plus. Both are slender snakes but olives get quite chubby very easily. The chunky scrubs I have seen have all been very old specimens. Both have very strong feeding responses and both are very alert. My olives tend to be more active than my scrub though. All of mine are gentle but I dont trust any of them as they have bad days too.

My scrubs and 2 of my olives are all fairly active. I find the scrubs command more respect than my olives as they are very placid. Although, they are highly alert animals at feeding time. I find my big olive is very lazy and her feeding has to be watched so she does not get too fat. I find I can stuff my scrubs with as much as they want and they just don't put on weight, they just get longer.
