I just visited a crocodile farm and my kids and I were looking in the snake enclosures when I noticed a sign warning of a case OPMV in their pythons. We didn't handle any snakes but I don't know if we can somehow transfer the disease to my python just by being up close to the enclosures. One staff member said we would all need to disinfect ourselves when we got home. How concerned should I be?

i have a belief that ibd is probably more common in aus then opmv and the symtoms are fairly simular but this could be that opmv is more of an educated guess seeing no one in australia can confirm 100% that opmv is around because active virus samples aren't aloud into the country for testing. I wouldn't be overly concerned if there wasn't any handling of animals, but not a bad idea to spray your self with f10 or trigene.

you can buy them from most vets, if you pass on the virus then yes it is to late, but from the sound of it i wouldn't get to worked up mate f10 or trigene should be used in a basic python cleaning schedual no matter what potential thoughts of threats.
