Well after a month of hard work and intense nursing I feel that I can finally show off my new girl. This is starlight and when we got her OMG what a nightmare that started. When we got her she was very cold. Got her home and gave her the once over. She's four years old and was coming up for a shed according to her previous owner. Now he said that she had a bit of a pary trick where she would puff her throat out when she hissed (Which she did quite a bit). We got her on friday and by monday she looked terriable. thats when i noticed the bubbles coming out of her mouth. We got her straight in to Clayton Knight (Fantistic vet by the way) and he diagnosed RI, so striaght onto daily Baytril injections. After a week and a half i noticed blisters forming along her back and sides, freaked out went back to the vets and found out she had blister diesese as well. wow. Her eyes were still opaque and she was still not doing to well but was better then before. Well imaging my surprise when she shed 3 days later and the thickness of it was amazing!! in some places it was nearly 5mm. but wow what an improvement. Unfortunately where the blisters were the scales were damaged but it wasnt too bad. She has come ahead leaps and bounds shed again on friday (damaged areas looking heaps better) and finally ate something last night. So here she is. Starlight the diamond python.

This story brought tears to my eyes. You always read & hear about checking an animal's health before buying, and not to buy it if it looks ill in any way. But you have gone out of your way to provide a better life for someone that somebody else would have left there to suffer, admitting I probably would have done so, too. All credit goes out to you for your loving care and peseverance that is now paying off. You've just added 10 years or more to this snake's life. BTW she is beautiful.
Kathy

Thx for the replies guys, they previous owner wasn't a bad guy. just had a collection that he didnt have the time for. He was genuinely shocked when i told him bout starlight. she's coloring up nicely. very pale yellow and black and she has a fantastic personallity. very curious and loves giving lots of 'kisses' (and no she doesnt bite). im very happy with her now and was worth the costs involved. now all i have to do is find her a boyfriend for 2 yrs time. she wont be cooled next year because of to much risk of the RI reoccuring.
thanks again
krystal
