I went to a pet store in Melbourne today and was surprised to find that they had several hatchies for sale. Bredli, Olive, Stimi and Dimonds all at pretty good prices for a pet shop as well. Then I thought isn’t it a bit early for hatchies, normally they would be around Jan Feb by the time they are ready for sale, and I had noticed that most people on APS are only just putting eggs in to incubators at the minute.
SO what is going on here?
Has the breeder brought the seasons forward to trick the snake into breading early or are these last years left overs that have not been feed much over the winter?
I was almost tempted with a Bredli at $350 and Dimonds for about the same price.

well i was talking to jason about this and we/i reckon that it was because the weather was so bonky at the start of the spring season, it got really hot for a few days there and then back to cold again so that mighta played a role. Ive seen a fair few hatchies around already myself but i dont think its anything too unusual

they may be last seasons hatchies, just the petshop hasnt been feeding them as regularly as they should to cut their food costs and keep the snakes at a more 'saleable' size. i doubt i would ever buy a snake from a petshop, theres just too much dodgy stuff that goes on

If they are Bredli and Diamonds they would be last years hatchlings.

I don't think many people would bother with cycling to get early clutches, All though it could most certainly be done with climate control and light timing (as is done with artificial hydroponic techniques to send a plant to fruit)
