| | | Overpriced pythons in Western Australia... I am moving to WA at the end of the year and so I have to give up my little girl cos of the blanket ban on Pythons into WA . So I researched the possibility of getting a BHP or Woma next year when we're there. But is it just me or are reptiles terribly expensive and overpriced in WA? Is it like that everywhere or am I just looking in the wrong place? |

I'm having the same problem trying to find snakes at the right price.

So they are still meeting demands, a lot of animals are still wild caught over there. And has mentioned if you sell animals you need to have a breeders license. Quote:

Reptiles are prices for a reason, if you don’t like them try keeping fish. I bet if you had woma’s, you wouldn’t be selling them for $100 you would sell them the same as everyone else. They aren’t expensive, it’s supply and demand and they are dropping considerably.

I understand supply and demand etc. But if there are places in WA that are more reasonably priced, then I would be very interested. |

Cheers Dave | Well I'll keep an eye out. I'm not in WA till the end of the year and so i'll be looking to buy early next year. I hope there is a price drop by then cos I don't wanna spend anymore than I have to, of course. But reptiles have become a passion so I will defintely have to start a collection soon when I'm in my new home, regardless of price. |

Why is it that snakes in W.A. are so highly priced when many are wild caught? It seems to me that if you catch them, you get them for free, therefore the prices should be lower. Sure there are fees, permits etc., but there isn't the initial purchase price. I've often wondered this and I'm sure there is a valid reason.
