Hi,
Just wondering if paper bark is ok in a snake enclosure.
I found a piece on the ground that nothing was living in, I TOD'd it just to be sure.
Its about 15cm square half on the heat mat, half off.
My childreni loves it.
Doesn't use his hide, just places hides under that.
Thanks

Hi gillsy,
It's up to you what you do but I would either give it a good wash or bake it in the oven to kill anything that may be inside. People have differing opinions on branches, brk, sand etc but I would rather personally take a few extra minutes to ensure that I brought nothing into the enclosure.
50 % of people swear that there is no need to do it and 50 % will say it's worth while.
Post some pics when you've finished setting it up.
Regards,
Shane

I'm a regular at my local fish and chip shop, so they got in 500 sheet pack of butches paper for $20 so it will be better than news paper.

I like to use paper bark as a partial substrate, as long as it is steralized there are no worries, ( i put mine in the freezer overnight to kill any bugs and then pour boiling water over, dry in the sun and away you go) it's especially good if you have half a dozen paperbark trees in your yard |
