What do you call these?
Shingle backs or Sleepy Lizards???
Anyways, I came across this one while on a walk, so cute. I loved the colours..
Isn't it gorgeous..
And this is not the lizzy, but a Shrill Shrimpy thing in the water near by..Apparently they are very very old.

Yeah thats a 'shield shrimp' or "billabong bug" VERY old. Also very cool.
And the shingle back is a little sweetie!

A sheild Shrimp. Ohhhh..Ooops, I got it wrong..
They are a very strange site, we had rains here a month or so ago and now we have a lake, first time in ten years..yay...But those little critters are everywhere

Yeah, they work the same as sea monkeys. Their eggs lay dormant forrrreevvver and when conditions are right they hatch and grow really fast. You can buy them in some petshops as a "just add water" pet. I had a tank of them once. Very cool.

they are cool little critters,the eggs can blow around in the desert dust for years and then hatch after a rain..im impressed
