Yes, my Woma went under the knife today. December last year she developed a largish lump in her belly, the Vet operated and found a large abscess.
Samples were sent away for pathology and they reckoned it was cancer free.
The lump came back again in August but she seemed happy enough and was eating. A couple of weeks ago the lump really blew up, I spoke to the Vet and he wanted to have another look, the pics tell the story.
The operation showed a very large amount of fluid and a grossly distended liver. The liver was cancerous and the Vet could find no normal liver tissue so she was given the green dream and I guess it's in the big paddock in the sky now.
In the third pic the dark bump at the top is the gall bladder and the liver/tumor is below followed by the sacks of fluid.

Yes, she was put down, the "green dream"needle worked in about 5 seconds.
That's the third python I've lost in the past 18 months to cancer and or tumors, (jungle and darwin).
I'm beginning to wonder if all the testing that's done on lab rats carries through in their genetics or something like that.
I breed my own rats and mice but the base stock were lab rats.
The Vet, Clayton Knights, was very good, no charge for the operation.

TD, cancer is not contagious. Your python could eat a rat riddled with tumors and there's no chance it could cause cancer in the snake.
