Pin Head Syndrome

Being a newbie on here and to the world of snakes I am hoping that someone could help me with a few questions I have. Pin head syndrome! I know what it is and how they get it. Are there any benefits to powerfeeding your Stimson to have him grow so quick. If he is a pinhead, does he have any long term damage other than just being overfed? Now that Stella and Stanley are mine, can I put them on a diet and feed them less often than the previous owner? That is of course if he and she are pinheads. Crikey! Havent heard that term since I saw the 30's movie Circus Freaks.
Also I have read that feeding your snake day old chicks affects their ...waste..... making it smell and is quite messy? I have not seen this happen as yet, and am not looking forward to it. Do you have to get rid of all the sand gravel etc after they have finished...wipe his bum etc etc. I have never been good at this even with my own kids, let alone a snake..
Other members can see Stella and Stan and hopefully you will all say...Noooo, dont be silly.
Thanks

Dunno much about this but the snakes look good to me, should post more full body pics of top of snakes I reckon. Both my snakes taper down to their head and tail.

I'm not even half a bottle on this subject, but from what I understand pinhead syndrome does not affect Stimson's, Children's, Spotteds very much if at all. Its more the large carpets such as bredli and coastals etc.
As to long term damage from being overfed....their is a current study on this, which is at the 1.5years old and breeding stage. Still a year or two maybe before they actually start testing organs for strength and weaknesses.
Personally, from what I have seen and from talking to other members, making your snake grow very quickly so you can breed from it earlier (which is the usual reason why people skarf their snakes) does harm the snake in long term health. I don't do it and all my snakes I have brought up from younguns are fine. Some people who have skarfed their snakes, do have problems with their snakes health.....canker, respiratory infections etc.
I know snakes are different to every other animal group, however, draw parallels with skarfing other animal species and the health result at the end.

Thanks to Earthling. I feel I want mine to be in as natural state as possible . Just like parents who feed their kids 'take away' all the time and their kids are somewhat obese, the result here is mum doesnt have to cook, the kids will eat their processed food, but at what cost to the child I see this as being similar. There is a means to an end with the snake being ready for breeding. But at what cost to the snake.
I have read a lot over the last 24 hrs and I dont think Stella and Stan have pin heads. My husband on the other hand....lol

You should read the study on this forum done I think by U.W.S. or something like that regarding "skarffing". It's not all horror stories and at this early stage, they just look like and act like well fed healthy snakes. After a read of that article, it should clear up a few things for you.

"....this early stage...."
Thats the thing, even the people doing the study say dont read any conclusions into it, as its just the beginning of the study. NO TESTS have been done on the animals to find if they are healthy or otherwise. To make a conclusion from this limited stage of the experiment would be totally unscientific and also irresponsible.

Hey Earthling, could you put any more warning signs up? I said have a read not treat it as gospel. At the end of the day, there have been no noticed health implications that have been detected. One could say that it s a normal thing. If there is food around, they will eat and grow. If there is not food around then they won't eat and won't grow.

Simple really.
