Two very experienced snake breeders who have done talks at the Mac Herp mettings both said that adult rats have a very high body fat content. This will cause Fatty Liver disease in snakes. My own vet recommends rabbits are better than rats due to the fat content and if you insist on feeding rats then its better to use teenage rats than adult rats due to the fat content.

I think stockeh does rabbit sausages, I hear they are ok come in different sizes and also very easy to breed, he he

Probably depends on the size of the Childrens Python. Speak with Matt from animal attraction. He will be able to sort you out.
