Don't mean to bump an old thread, but thought it would be better than cluttering up the forums with more threads of the same thing .
My port mac shed tonight so i took some pics ! Hoping he will continue to colour up nicely.

Awesome looking Port Macs people!
In reference to some of the posts that talk about UV and the like-
For diamonds, there has been more evidence supporting the fact that they need lower temperatures, or a bigger heat gradient (32C- 16C for example) than other snakes to prevent DPS. There was an excellent thread called "My experiences with DPS" by serpentstongue, (I believe, someone please correct me if I'm wrong) about it that I think is a must read for new and old diamond keepers alike.
As for UV and colouration, and I haven't got any scientific evidence to back myself up, but I, at least, believe that snakes will get much brighter colours when subjected to daily UV exposure. I've talked to a few people about it, and I know bredlis get much brighter and someone said that their coastal got much much brighter as well. I've only ever heard it associated with the Morelia species, but perhaps others would as well?
Anyway, just my two-cents.

Ppl that have kept the carpets for many years have conflicting opinions to this. One will claim that UV has no effect on colour and a friend of mine, his animals never get UV. All his animals are beautiful & brightly coloured. Whereas, I too, don't have UV lights on my carpets, but I beleive I have seen their colours darken up. They don't seem to be as bright as they use to be. But I do notice that where my enclosures are is a bit of a dark spot whereas my friend's place is always open to bright natural light - not direct sunlight but just bright natural light.
So everyday, now, I am taking one or two of my reptiles outside for some sunshine. I don't have any permanent outdoor set ups for them so just when I get to sit and do nothing I will pick up a snake and head out with them. They love getting out in the sun. My olives & female bredli don't seem to like the grass, though. They will crawl up my leg and just hang off my shoulders, soaking up the warm light. But my Port Macs love the grass, and wandering.
I have a photo somewhere here of one of my baby's that doesn't flick his tongue. He has gone to a friend who is trying to get him feeding for me. He still won't eat but Pythoninfinite has a way with snakes, he is forcing mouse tails into him, and he has had a shed so that is a good sign he must be growing a little. But Pythoninhfinite has also discovered that my little runt has no tongue at all. When he hatched his tongue was stuck out like he couldn't put it away. Then we thought he put it away just wouldn't flick it. He must have lost it somewhere. But Pythoninifite isn't giving up on him. He has a yearling like that, who eats by sensing heat, so yes that makes him a bit of a biter but if Narci makes it that far, I will be happy
