Rennie
The name Diamond Python has nothing to do with the rosettes. Its to do with the small yellow spot on the scales.
Ponybug, I have never seen a Carpet like my Proserpines occurring at Cardwell. All the Carpets I have seen from this area appear to be an intergrade between Coastal and Jungles. I spent many years visiting and helping Rob Bredl when his zoo was located at Caldwell. Rob left Cardwell nearly 15 years ago.

thats right bob, rob did leave there and now lives in prossy, my mate just happens to visit him all the time, i also asked the breeder who i bought my coastals from and he told me where they came from, he bought the original hatchys from rob many years ago, i've known him for over 15 years and he got them from rob before i knew him,
but all that aside, your argument was they just don't come from port mac, mine was that neither do proserpines just come from proserpine, i live in ******* which is 90 minites drive from prossy and i can get better looking wild prossy coastals at my back door then you own, so how about we call them ******* coastals, or central eastern coast coastals,
the idea of calling them port mac was to stop the stupid name " intergrades" that everybody called them, you just have to see the stupid comments again in this thread calling them hybrids...............
edited my town out as i didn't want the whole world to know my exact location, lol,

Well Ponybug, I'm very glad you like them... in spite of the stirrers trying to get a bite... Many of them don't have a clue what they're talking about. (Not you Bob...)
I think we coined the name "PM carpet" because it is this area that is really a hotspot for them, and it is fairly central to their overall range. But even here they are incredibly variable, with individuals exhibiting elements of coastal or diamond influences, or both, and ranging through all the colours from drab neutral, brownish to very high yellow. Many of them are at least as spectacular as the top-line diamonds we see here on the web.
In any summer season I would see 20-30 of these guys, on the roads near where I live, and on my property itself (saw 5 in one week just around the house last summer!) - rodent breeding brings them in like a magnet...
Jamie.

I wasn't trying to start a debate... just stir you up a little and i guess i did a pretty good job at that!
They are great looking snakes... really they are. I have only seen two in real life, but if they were anything to go by pictures don't do them any justice.

I dont know why Intergrades arent heaps more popular. You've got the similar looks of the Diamond with the toughness of the Carpets. All those problems Diamonds have dont exist in the Intergrades. Besides, a top intergrade smash's any diamond for looks. A mate of mine has a pair of Port Stephens Intergrades that are stunning. I'm yet to see a diamond that comes close to these.

I think our PM carpets are gorgeous - they vary in pattern and colour but their temperament is beautiful. I have handled 4 of these guys & all have that same calm nature. They're unafraid and not aggressive. My first python was a sub adult female just on 5', she is now 6.5' and will always be my favourite. Here's my latest addition showing yet another variation to our beauties with striking high yellow.

Nice snakes ponybug And nightowl.
I own a few portmac's and diamonds myself, especially
1beautiful female portmac bred by Greg Hollis [ currently mating ]
I think that they are a lot hardier than the Diamonds and if I might say so, in
general, alot more beautiful.
Actually, I will be selling two males in the next few months, Good to have a couple of spares
during the breeding season.

Those are some really nice snakes, wish I had some more money and space, lol.
My two cents: All the people who have to constantly air their uninformed opinions need to get a life and take a look out in nature. ANIMAL DISTRIBUTIONS DO NOT FOLLOW POLLITICAL BOUNDARIES
