can you put two different types of snakes in the same enclosure, and should they be around the same size , will larger snakes like childrens python eat or attack a hatchling or a yearling, should l just keep them in separate enclosures

You shouldn't house two snakes of differing sizes together (except for perhaps mating). There's a million reasons why snakes are better off kept in separate enclosures, if you are able to do that then you should.

It really depends on what the snakes are, their sizes and their temperaments. It probably would be best to house them seperately if you can do that. And it's always best to feed snakes seperately. Children's are known to eat other snakes in the wild.

we do have sperate enclosures so l think we will keep it that way, so then does that mean you should always get a new enclosure for each new snake you get

It's a pretty good idea to do that where possible, yes.

Mixing species is a bad idea. Ideally, you only want to put snakes together for breeding, even if they're the same species. Snakes are predators capable of eating things larger than themselves and killing things much larger. Snakes are more likely to attack and kill members of other species than their own. Keeping different species together can lead to the production of hybrids and as we've learned recently, it's possible for some apparently very distantly related pythons to hybridise. Many reasons not to, no good reasons to do it.

I don't think we need to get into the pros and cons and cons and cons of hybridising with a 10 year old though

Who's to know how old a person is? It's the information that was sought and a pretty detailed answer given.

Perhaps not, but it's worth getting as far as informing him about the possibility and perhaps pointing out that it's illegal.

And I decided it was also worth pointing out that the person who asked the question was young, so that it didn't degenerate as have done other threads of late.....obviously we're ALL full of good ideas tonight

Soemtimes things can go horribly wrong when you mix species.
