Hi guys,
For a while now, I've been wondering about the maximum lengths of Australian Pythons. I've been trying to find a website of longest recorded specimens for each of the species, but without luck so far. Does anyone know of one?
Anyway, I thought I'd try and collate a list of the longest python lengths that people actually own or are genuinely aware of. So, if you think that your snake is long(ish) can you please provide the following information:
Species, Sex, Age, Length (in metres), [Confirmed (own/seen) or unconfirmed (heard of)]
As we go along, I'll collate the information and see what we come up with. Naturally, I'll circulate the final spreadsheet ... and probably some progressive ones as well. It will be also interesting to be able to compare that to the list of record lengths, should I able to track that one down.
Not that I'll be including the names of owners or even locations, but if anyone wants to PM me instead and avoid publicisizing their names, feel free to do so. Alternatively, I can be emailed at nicglenister@hotmail.com.
Thanks in advance,
Nic

I think someone needs to do just that! As well as a listing of snakes, names and pics.....
I'm sure alot of people who aren't too savvy on the families and gene pools would benefit with being able to understand it.. cause I most certainly would! *blush*

Please help me keep this in the Most Recent Forum by posting your longest snake lengths, even if you don't think it's going to be the longest. I'll collate all the data as we go ...

Heres some
from "encyclopedia of Australian Animals - Reptiles" (doubted by some ppl)
Olive python(barroni) 6.5m
Scrub python 8.5m
coastal carpet 4m
There is a pic of a massive integrade floating around in the forums somewhere too it was close to 4m i think.
Some i have heard of may not be to but possible/likely IMO
coastal carpet - 4.5m unfortunately killed for eating adult turkeys(not scrub turkeys either) measured dead
coastal carpet - 5.5m from a newspaper article posted here some time back
approx 3.5m is the biggest coastal carpet i have ever seen(live crossing a road).
oenpelli rock pythons are supposed to get massive too, but only ppl with a certain skin colour can have anything to do with them.
IMO all of these maxiumums have most likely been exceeded in cases not seen by ppl, either currently or in times gone by.
