Python Popularity in Australia

Something that crossed my mind thinking about Australian Pythons in U.S. Herpetoculture, Just curious what species or subspecies seems to be the most popular in Australia? What has been the most popular?

The Anteresia are quite popular due to there size, and sometimes misconceived docile nature. Have come across a few that'll make my Jungles look like kittens. LOL!

That's a bit rude, isn't it?

To the OP: I guess that depends on how you define "most popular." Do you mean the most sought-after, or the most widely kept?

Thanks for the replies, I tried to do a poll, but for some reason it didn't work...

Here in the States we seem to focus the most on Pythons, but There are probably many other types of snakes as well....Seem all we talk about is Pythons...for good reason of course..lol

One would assume that antaresia are definitely the most popular for the reasons cited by JungleRob... however, wouldn't this be a genus and not a species?

The most popular species would definitely be a difficult one to determine... perhaps Childreni?

Good Question....probably the most widely kept.......Seems over here there are many "Carpet" Pythons...that seems to me the most worked with here....

Good Point, I should have probably worded my question differently....

Most widely kept I would hazard a guess to be either Morelia spilota mcdowelli or Antaresia maculosa :-)
