I was amazed when driving through an area not far from my place to see road signs for Carpet Pythons. I will go back over the next few days to get pics. They are like the koala/ Kangaroo signs with warnings, Carpet Pythons next 8 kms ect. It is an initiative of one of the local Landcare groups. They are apparently also offering local land holders free chainsaw and chemical users courses that are aimed at preserving habitat and awarenss of the local carpet population. Its about time things like this were happening and perhaps other groups should look at doing the same thing.

wow thats such a good idea. Its not just the cuddly's that should be loved and protected but the scaley's too. (from cars and habitat destruction)

Back in my ill-gotten youth I've pinched the odd road sign or two, couple of traffic cones, a flashing light, a bar stool from the pub, sunglasses at schoolies, numerous ashtrays and salt&pepper shakers; (oops have i said too much?  ).... would love a "python crossing" sign

Finally got a pic of one of the signs....not good quality it was taken with my daughter phone.
And you cant knick the signs thay have tracking devices in them.........bugger
