I was wondering if anyone can tell me where in queensland these rainforest walks are where you get to see snakes basking and tree snakes in trees and wildlife? i love bushwalking and hiking but i never seem to come across any but i always hear people saying they saw some on their walk. Also is it dependent on their active season? when is that?
Would appreciate your help guys, Thanks |

If you go to the weir near colleges crossing(brisbane river) there are usually alot of snakes around there, plenty of browns and others too. Pretty much anywhere where there is bushland there will be snakes.

Well it would be a very odd Diamond indeed if you saw it near the Gold Coast, it's only about 800 k's outside their range :-) Quote:

Well they have been keeping it very quiet, does anyone have a photo of a Queensland Diamond ? Or are they like the Loch Ness monster ;-) I do remember seeing a thread on here a little while ago about someone having seen a Diamond up here somewhere but it was generally thought of as being a case of mis identification. If you think about it logically how/why would Diamonds exist 700 or 800k's south then become intergrades, then coastals and then Diamonds again co existing with coastals, it really doesn't make a lot of sense.
If someone shows me a photo I will be a believer.

They may not be diamonds exactly, but they have the same type of markings. I have seen atleast one(possibly others when i was younger) that has the diamond shaped pattern and looked the same as a dull diamond.
Im not sure what actually defines a diamond carpet from a coastal carpet so i cant say if they are definately diamonds, but plenty of ppl have seen them and they look the same. I know ppl who wouldnt believe me when i told them diamonds dont live in the area simply because they had seen so many that look the same.

Like Rob says there are no Diamonds in Queensland, it just isn't possible. I am willing to accept that it is POSSIBLE there is an isolated population of escaped Diamonds that have established themselves near the Gold Coast but I am only saying it is theoretically possible. None of these people who have seen these Diamonds have a photo of one ? I am sure someone after all these yaers would have documented evidence to show the existence of Diamond pythons in that area. I have no doubt there are coastals with reduced pattern and a dark background colour which could look superficially like a very ordinary intergrade, maybe. It's like saying I have seen Water Pythons in the wild in Gosford. I'm not having a go at you Cris but it just isn't possible. Having said that if I am shown proof I will be the first to raise my hand and apologise.
