Questions about jungle carpet python...

I just recently bought a jungle carpet python and i noticed she is making a sort of hissing sound, but it kind of sounds like she is having breathing problems( think nasal congestion). is it normal for them to make this kind of hissing like sound or could she be sick. hopefully someone can help me out on this. the guy at the pet store said its normal but im not so sure.

A congested hiss is not normal....crank up the heat and if it does not clear in a few days head to a vet asap.

Yeah, I'd head for the vet. Had a similar problem with my spotted some years back and my vet gave me some anti biotics to inject his food with. Cleared up soon after, but if you leave it it could be fatal...

thanks for the replies. i will try making it a warmer for her. also, would raising the humidity help? hopefully i won't have to take her to the vet.

i did forget to mention one thing. the more i keep watching her and observing her I have noticed that she only makes this hissing/congested sound when I am handling her or trying to get her out of her enclosure. when she is just hanging out undisturbed she seems fine. not sure if this changes the outlook on her at all but i figured i didnt want to leave out any details.

This is what really gets to me about this site. So many people think they're experts when it comes to problems people are having with their animals.

If you're not 100% sure, don't answer. Leave it to somebody that does know.

Cheers,
Rob

If its a respiritory Infection raising the humidity will worsen it, warm and dry and keep a watchful eye on him.
