To settle an argument with a mate which one would have more nutritional value for a python?

Feeding both would give a more varied diet. But as a general rule of thumb both are about the same nutritionally. Both have a different nutritional value and it would be hard to pin point the exact differences in regards to which one would be better.
No how is that for fence sitting? LOL.

I don't think one would be more nutritional than the other, I prefer chickens to rats though as I find the adult rats that are sold as snake food are very fatty and on that basis I feed chickens over rats to help prevent fatty liver disease particularly with womas and BHPs.

What pieces of chicken do you feed? Skinless, skin on, drumsticks or necks...
Cheers mate...

Cheers mate... | Actually I was referring to whole chickens, but I do feed drumsticks and necks very occassionally, skin off. Of course the nutritional content of the latter are much lower than feeding a whole chicken.
On a tangent, does anyone feed guinea pigs to their snakes?

Most rat breeders breed their rats in those horrible small laboratory tubs, which produce fat unhealthy rats. I wouldnt even feed a weaner rat thats been bred this way to any of my snakes.
Chickens would by far be better than rats bred like that.
On the other hand if the rats are bred in large enclosure such as bath tubs, they get heaps of exersize and even the larger old males are still good healthy food.

I don't believe a diet of poultry will have the same nutritional content as rodents.
The protien to fat ratio is different. There is a significant difference in bone structure and density, so calcium content will be different as well.
In my experience chickens will be digested more quickly than a similarly sized rat.
The stool of a snake that has been eating a lot of chicken tends to be rather loose. Quote:

All my feeder stock is frozen/thawed and is farmed for the pet trade (no lab animals)
Here is one of my girls enjoying a guinea pig

Thanks Gekkocha, Snakeaddict, awesome pics....
Somehow when I first envisaged this scenario, I was thinking of the chicken I was about to bake for dinner and wondering how the hell a snake would get it down...lol
Awesome pics guys, thanks!!!
Now has anyone got any pics of snakes swallowing cats....lol, joking of course, just stirring the pot...
I'm a cat owner, for people who didn't get that joke...
