Shaun, use any means you wish, a regular household globe can be painted red with heat resistant engine paint. you can buy this at any hardware. it comes in varying heat i.e 500 deg 1000 deg. use the highest its about $17 per can [last a hell of alot of globes] good thing too because the paint shortens the globe life cause it burns hotter. make sure you dry the globe for a day then burn it off[leave it turned on] for a day[NOT over the tank] so theres no fumes.
you can buy a lead and light globe socket in several lead lengths also from the hardware. there used in garages etc. globe will be hot so not too close, take into account its heat when working out how to heat the tank. In general most people say fishtanks arnt very good for snakes, they dont hold heat well due to glass all round. you could insulate the outside with styrofoam but a timber cabinet with vents and glass door/s is probly best. If you go with the fishtank, you'll have to devise a cover. pegboard[for tools] would probably be best. ask at the hardware how best to fit it so your snake dosent escape. you could maybe hang the light socket on a dowel attached to the tank stand? pegboard cover may be a problem though. perhaps some strong mesh? good luck.

Artie, are you phsycic ? whats next weeks powerball numbers mate?

Not too sure about those powerball numbers Afro picked, but I'll have the other 25% Robert, to make it an even 50/50

Two foot tank is to big. get asmaller plastic one with the clip on lid and a heat pad. Put the heat pad under one end only. Make sure there is somewher to hide. Let your snake settle in for a week before you play with it to much.
Get a few books and read read read. I think you really need to.

Two things amaze me about this thread.

1 - Someone sold this person a snake. How irresponsible can you be?

2 - Yet another person has bought a reptile, and know nothing about it.
