LMAO, I should have known better than to leave it open for a comment Afro...

If it is emaciated because of something natural, leave it. Its hard, I know. But its for the best!
In the wild, I agree, but in built up areas where development has destroyed their habitat, I don't.

for a generally mellow snake ,they can sometimes get extremely agro when u tail them..i love em...great pics hugsta
i love how you say red bellies are soooo mellow.. i didnt think so while being chased around the yard by one , i was runing around for ages with the blasted thing chasing me for no aparrent reason at all... ( i am no olympic sprinter but recon i would have given cathy freeman a run for her money that day) i would rather come across a brown which just slither off into the grass than a grumpy red belly any day.

hubby found a red bellied hatchling in the workshop at work the other day and took him off to relocate it so none of the guys squished him.. he was grumpy too ( so was the snake )

Its a phone call.
If you had any concern you would have made it but no, you'd rather big note yourself.

RE: Red Belly Rescue

Hello Huggie,
What a beauty. And the snakes pretty too.
Gee you got dirty, did you have to tackle it?

I'm glad the guy called you. I can't believe there are so many 'The best snake is a dead snake people' out there still.

Zard, you live in an alternate universe to me. Browns chase, Red Bellies hide or pretend to be sticks. What are you feeding them? lol

RE: Re: Red Belly Rescue

LOL snakeman i knew what you meant, i just couldnt resist.
i have just found im my experience (which is gererally tripping over or dodging snakes) that red bellied are fiesty little blighters and browns normally leave or stay very still.. maybe the reds i have come across are females
i must add i am no expert (far from it)and any snake in the wild gets a very wide berth from me in the hope we can both go on our way. they actually scare the heck out of me

RE: Re: Red Belly Rescue

I wuld have a RBB over a browns any day. Maybe the browns up there are puffing away on the wacky weed and just can't be bothered. ;-)

I am still yet to have a snake chase me though, it's normally me chasing them....LOL. If you stand still they normally loose interest and go on their merry way.

i hav been 'chased' by two very warm breeding tigers when i disturbed..their privacy..they had been living in a stack of wooden pallets that was over grown with weeds...it was a block of flats for snakes...i had to pull it apart to remove the snake that the client had told me were in there..the snakes wern't home ,but after i had pulled the 1st two pallets..i noticed a large tiger coming down the hill to have a go at me..i blocked it with my stick and it came at me again...it was all very exiting..then its partner came out of nowhere and started doing the same thing...i had to call for the tongs....1st and only time ive had to use them...any way i got one in the bag and the other got away...

Im sure Hugsta has gone home and changed into his shorts and short sleave shirt for the photos. He would never gone on a rescue dresses like that.
I know of two people bitten by reb bellies the week before last. Both very experienced people. One spent 24 in hospital and the other was there for six.

Short sleeve shirt's not too much drama, but those pants are asking for trouble.
