I always have that 'bitten by a ven and not make it to the hospital dreams' but a chick at my work dreamt she was looking after my spotted and it got angry at her and tried to get out, so she threw it back into it's enclosure and yelled... something.. can't remember now... and then Quincy turned bright pink and was forcing the door open! It's funny cause he's smaller than most of my others but mum is most scared of him and now Nadia.... and NOW after telling them not to be stupid, he's become a pyscho head!!!!!!!! They obviously have some pyschic ability!

If you dream of attacking, wrestling with or trying to kill a snake (or dream that another animal is doing so), you will have to defend your reputation against nasty gossip. If the attempt to kill the snake was successful in your dream, you will succeed against all hostilities.
Snakes In A Dream!
Most of our information about snakes comes from what we see on television, read in literature, or from urban legends and most of that information is less than flattering to the snake. We see shows devoted to 'The World's Most Deadliest' or films such as 'Snakes on a Plane'. We read about the snake tempting Eve in the Garden. We hear the myth about the snake that strikes a woman carrying snake-laden produce under her arm. Even in the Harry Potter series speaking 'parcel tongue'--the snake language--is something that is initially, at least, considered a bad sign.
But if a snake slithers into your dream does it really point to something bad?
Below are some classic interpretations of snakes in dreams. Look at them and compare them to your own personal association with snakes. Snakes as Fear Symbols
Given that most people do not have firsthand snake experience snakes appearing in dreams can often symbolize a fear of the unknown. They can point to a deep seated anxiety that something isn't right or a nagging feeling that something is waiting for them, something bad, like a snake in the grass. Is there something going on in your life that you are afraid of doing simply because you've never done it before? Snakes as Symbols of Wisdom
While the unknown factor of snakes can engender fear, it may also give rise to feelings of intrigue. Some people and cultures see snakes as exotic and possessing hidden wisdom. This is partly due to their mysterious nature and partly due to one of a snake's more prominent features: it's tongue. In Chinese astrology people born under the sign of the snake are considered extremely wise, sensual, and diplomatic--they have an ease of tongue which makes them able to navigate sticky situations. If a snake appears in your dream it may actually be there using its tongue to impart wisdom that may be life altering--which brings us to... Snakes as Symbols of Transformation
The ouroboros is one of the more famous snake-transformation symbols. In it, a snake can be seen biting it's own tail, revealing to us the cyclical nature of life. See the link below for more information on this fascinating symbol.
Snakes shed their skin which is a classic symbol for ridding oneself of what one no longer needs in favor of accepting that which is new. The process of shedding its skin is not simple for a snake, nor is it so in our waking lives. In nature, snakes become cranky, irritable, and are more likely to bite while shedding their skins. We often react in the same manner when releasing old, worn out lives and situations. We have grown comfortable with our 'skin' even if that skin has become a source of irritation. A snake appearing in your dream may very well be telling you that despite the temporary discomfort you must go through, it may be time to release old relationships, careers, or habits in order to renew and reclaim your life. Snake Bites
When one is bitten by a snake in a dream, this often actually points to overcoming a situation that appeared dire. The a snake bit dream may point to learning to overcome a situation and regain your power in life. Snake bites can be viewed as in injection of wisdom, rather than life threatening venom. Snakes as Sexual Symbols
So when is a snake no longer just a snake? Usually when a snake is behaving in a manner inconsistent with snakes! Snakes don't typically snuggle up to us in bed, nor do we find snakes trying to enter our bodies or other such activities. If your dream snake is engaging in these sort of behaviours, more than likely the snake is actually representative of the opposite sex. In this case your feelings about snakes is of tantamount importance. If you are repulsed by them, this could point to sexual dissatisfaction. If you find snakes tantalizing, these dreams could actually be taking on a 'wish fulfillment' role.
Few creatures evoke such strong reactions from people as snakes. People love them, hate them, or are downright phobic of them. Given the intense response snakes provoke, when one finds its way into your dream it is a good sign that the snake has something important to say about your life. The snake is a difficult dream symbol because it is so widely interpreted among various cultures. Interpretations run the gamut from blood-curdling fear to wisdom and peace. These options are determined by literary history and folklore from different cultures, as well as personal experience..In waking life, it is not uncommon to be afraid of snakes. For some people, this fear is disruptive and pathological, even to the point that a photo of a snake represents an oppressive threat. For these people, snake dreams are almost universally bad. If the dream includes someone who handles snakes, whoever tames the object of the fear is likely a source of wisdom and control in the dreamer's world, and may be a representation of some aspect of themselves or someone else they know. .Among Asian and Native American cultures, the snake is a wisdom symbol. The idea of wisdom comes from the snake's ability to shed its skin and renew itself. If one dreams of snakes from this perspective, it is a dream of renewal, problem-solving, and good tidings in general. In Judeo-Christian cultures, the snake is a symbol of temptation or spiritual opposition against reaching one's goals. This concept is derived from Bible when Satan tempts Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in the form of a snake. Sometimes, a snake dreamt in this context will remind you of a particular person in your waking life with whom you have a competitive relationship. Finally, Freud and classical psychotherapy have also thrown interpretations into this "pit." The contention is that the snake is a type of phallus. The snake often embodies fear about intercourse and an aversion to it. Coming up with an insightful interpretation for your dream snake could be tricky. What emotions are prevalent regarding the snake: fear, respect, or opposition? What is your attitude about snakes in waking life: neutral, fearful, or friendly? Did the snake appear when you were alone or were others with you when the snake entered the dream scene? What are your feelings about those others? Answering these questions should lead towards a productive interpretation of the snake dream. Snakes as Symbols of Initiation
In many dreams a single snake will come to bite you, and you may in fact be bitten after a brief struggle. To your amazement though, you will not die, and may find that the situation is not as bad as you thought. This type of dream can come when you have been fighting for your life with some problem, relationship or challenge. Such a snake-ordeal is an important signal that you are going through a kind of initiation; a psychological and spiritual trial that has the potential to change your life for the better if you deal with it bravely and with a clear heart. You may have to give up something you thought you couldn't, or take a stand for your principles or faith. This type of dream is responsible for the widely held belief that "snakes represent transformation." In my opinion, these dreams state the potential for growth and transformation inherent within a current difficulty. But to harvest this promise, you must walk through your fears and be willing to let go of the old in order to gain the rewards of the future. Snakes Associated with Death and Afterlife
People who are dying or who have lost a loved one often dream of snakes, at or near the time of death. For whatever reason, these dreams seem involved with the psychic awareness of the transition from this life to the next. You should not be frightened that a dream of snakes means someone is about to die. Under normal circumstances this is not the case. However if your family is touched by loss, or you are near someone during this transition, you may be comforted to know that some deep awareness of the afterlife seems to arouse dreams of snakes at these times. |

Poeople always assume that i have venomous snakes when i tell them i am a reptile keeper. They ask me i am worried about getting bitten. I tell them" For one i show reptiles the respect they deserve but if i was to die through a venomoue snake bite i would be honoured to die this way.

Hehe dream analysis is so funny. People who keep snakes are much more likely to dream about snakes - so that means we all have the same stuff going on in our lives? Hahaha.
Anyway, I had another reptile dream last night, involving pythons, elapids, frogs, a bunch of tiny sea turtles...too much stuff happened to describe but it was all pretty normal - half of my dreams are pretty realistic seeming. The main thing I remember is the little turtles were soooo cute! I had them crawling on me but had to keep making sure they walked properly with their front 'flippers' because I was told as they are so young their legs can fall off if they walk on them the wrong way . Ok maybe not so realistic...

welllll..... dont get me started on dreams!!!
i dream so much its not funny... like at least 3 dreams a night, i can start dreaming BEFORE im even asleep.... and i can have as full dream in the SNOOZE (5 mins) between alarms... heh from what i know ur not supposed to have REM sleep that quickly?
anyway... i could go on forever... but i dream quite often of snakes... HEAPS of being nailed by vens... and then no one will listen to me when i say i've been bit and we better do something... then as time goes on i realise that im not suffering any effects... and in the end nothing happens, the venom never takes effect, even though most of these dreams i am struck repeatedly by the snake.
inkslinger - i have read that stuff before, if its right i better b one damn wise person *grin* since i get nightly 'injections of wisdom' heheh.
and whats with the sexual ones? i dont sex any snakes in my dreams! thats just damn weird!
i also dream a lot of being shot... same as the snake bites... i worry and try to stop the bleeding and get some help.... but then i never die... heh usually i end up forgetting ive been shot at all and start dreaming some other crazy ******

I had a dream that I was back at school, sitting in school assembly, playing with my python, Bindi. A teacher came down the aisle, and thinking that my snake would get confiscated, or worse, the ignorant teacher would panic and try to kill the snake thinking it was venomous, i quickly put her (the snake, not the teacher) down my shirt. The next thing you know, the underwire in my bra has impaled my poor little snake, and I have to take her to the vet, who happened to be Peter Wilson, in currumbin. He gave her some stitches, and then left her in a box on the window sill overnight. In the morning, I came back, and the sun had been directly shining on her container, and burnt her to death it was terrible.
