Here is a coastal i got off a bird avairy last week
I am glad i was called because this bloke was a true farmer
"shoot first check if its dangerous later " He only got me to come over because we used to work together .
I love the colours and banding on this guy .

What a beauty! Lucky you saved him. Do you try and relocate them as close as you can to where they were found?

I let him go about 2 klms from where he was found , In nice bush near a small creek
His temperament was pretty good he struck at the bag and me a few times and had a good chew on the bag
He got one tooth in me as i was putting him in the bag he was 4-5 ft long

Coastal Carpet Python

Hi Mick,

Well done!

Do you mind me asking roughly where it was, as I'm very interested in locality characteristics.

Do you do rescues with a rescue organization or privately?.

Multiple strikes, chewing & leaving a tooth in you is "pretty good" is it?
Are the Coastals characteristically stroppy & snappy in your experience?

Thanks

zen

I dont do it for a job or advertise just people who know i have snakes ask me to come over and help them out not that i mind
I found both of these guys in the Morayfield area about 50klm north of Brissy The whip snake was at my place and the coastal was about 3klm from my place both have bushland behind but with lots of development happening they are losing their homes

He wasnt that bad he just didnt want me to take him from his dinner .
I got him at 9pm on a friday night he was in a tree above the garage and bird aviary by the time i got there .

I climbed up on the roof of the garage and got him out of the tree By torchlight he assumed the S strike position And i just grabbed him
about a foot from his head he just struck at me and the bag but once i held him behind his head he just coiled around my arm and settled down a bit .

He then got me as i closed the bag to tie it up he got a strike into my thumb just a little bit of blood nothing much .
When I released him down the road a bit he just wanted to slide away
these photos were taken on release .
They vary a bit but i havent done enough to make any theories as to why .

What a beauty Mick. We've just discovered that our so called "placid" Coastal, has started being a bit stroppy since he started eating eh? Won't eat rats, but loves very plump baby pigeons. He ate two of them last night, the guts! Dave reckons the two of them together would have weighed at least 800gms. They only had tiny little pin feathers. Cheers Cheryl
