Wait till we start to see some RSP morphs! That will be amazing1 Imagine blonde roughies, or roughies with the reverse patterning... Its bound to happen eventually once there are more and more people breeding them, there'll be a greater chance of a morph popping up.

The funny thing with roughies is that there are lots of people saying that they are bland but have they really seen them in the flesh. These are stunning snakes equal to a chondro IMO.

and with Chondros lots of people have held back lots of babies and only released a small number. Once the prices drop then there wont be such a great need to keep oll those hold backs so there will then be a number of adults available as well.

Personally I will go with Boa's opinion. Prices will drop to a level that lots of keepers can afford then stay there for a while but eventually they have to drop considerably. Take a lead from birds. Princess Parrots were dear as anything in the 70's.

The problem with snakes is that they can have 20 babies at a time and our hobby is not growing 20 times per annum so at some stage supply will have to outstrip demand. We are still a very young hobby. NSW has only allowed keeping herps for 10 years (notwithstanding the old 11 animals rule). Thankfully this means we have a way to go before saturation.

I've got no idea. I've given up predicting prices of herps. Why did the price of Stimmie's double over the last 18 months?
Don't even know which one I'd prefer, probably a GTP as I've known about them for longer and wanted them longer.
I've seen both in the flesh a few times, I've seen more GTP's than RSP's and there's got to be a hell of a lot more of them out there. There must be at least 1000 GTP's in private hands these days?

Red face Gtp

Hi All

Interesting thread...
I have to say though,. I would prefer a GTP over a RSP any day of the week,.

Only my personal opinion,. but I think GTP are absolutly stunning, where as a RSP just reminds me of a Maccie (a very expensive one at that) although, obviously I wouldnt say no if I was offered one,.but I wouldnt go out and purchase one (even if I could afford it) if I had a choice I wouldnt even need to think about it,... GTP, for sure

I'd definitely take a roughy over a GTP.

I think the money you would spend on a GTP would be better spent on an oil painting from a known artist, it would be nearly as animated and not require feeding

(not looking at how much they cost) I think that they are both amazing, but I would go for a GTP if I had to pick one

why argue about it I"ll take both just to be greedy

But I want a pair of Bigge Island RSP as well as a mainland pair
A few pairs of GTP's would be nice as well..

considering the price of them both, which are equally stunning pythons, i will continue saving for the more common carpets. GO THE BREDLI

My husband and I have been aiming for a GTP for next year, but having read this thread I thought I would have a good look at RSP, and I discovered that they are an extremely interesting little snake. Their colour isn't as vibrant as a GTP, but they are very beautiful in their own class. But we can't break our goal of having a GTP, and my husband won't let me get any more reptiles until we get our GTP, keeps telling me to keep my eye on the prize. I have now decided though that after aquiring "the prize", that the next step will definately be a Roughie!
Thank you to this thread for opening my eyes to yet another beautiful herp

I would choose the Rough Scale for various reasons but one would be because every man and his dog seems to have GTP's now
I reckon the RSP's are very underrated.
