I know a person that owns a scrubbie (12ft), I have had the pleasure of handling it on many occasions. Not snappy, but does hiss alot, he also tried to strangle me. If I had the money It would be on my list of snakes to buy.

If it weren't for the amount of food they consume I would have a pair asap! Just too much hassle and expense to feed.

I want to get some hatchlings in another 12 months or so. Food be damned, I want I want!
Steve, I also know someone near Wellington that has scrubs, I hope it's not the same person, he didn't get them out when I was there.
For those that are interested, I am planning on building a large outdoor enclosure for them in the warmer months and a smaller indoor one for the cooler months. Hopefully, this way I will alleviate the need for a 9'x5' indoor enclosure because they will get a lot of exercise in their outdoor one.

Hey Mags do you reckon I could get away with that here in Melbourne? What is their optimum temperature? What size do you think would be the minimum for the indoor enclosure? What sort of price do hatchies go for?

I reckon using this method, a 6'x2'x2' should be big enough for their winter quarters, unless I am lucky enough to get one that grows to over 5m. I know this is small for a scrubbie and I would never keep one in an enclosure that size full time. I just reckon that if they had a large (say 4mx4mx2m ) aviary that they were in for 7-8 months of the year (maybe with a heated hide box for the cooler parts of those months,) that would provide heaps of exercise and they would be less active during the cooler months anyway. I think they like about 32C as a temp, but an outside cage provides plenty of opportunity to bask and the air temp doesn't need to be that high, probably only 23-25C for them to maintain their temp during the day. However, I wouldn't put them out till our night temps were above 10C and even then, I'd use a heated or insulated hide box.
