i dont keep them any more but will be geting a hatchy pair this season.
i think they are great and most will get around 14ft easy so you will be looking at a big snake.
i dont recomend them for first snake so if it is get some thing else....jmo.

G'day guys,

I am often ridiculed for my point of view, but I have had it for a while, before and after I experienced first hand what Scrub Pythons are capable of.

They are incredibly dangerous snakes, a mixture of huge size, speed and quick temper. I would be the first person to back a recommendation for having them elevated to the same permit status as highly venomous snakes, because in reality, they are just as dangerous, if not more.

There's no antivenom for lack of oxygen!

Cheers

Jonno

I like that Jonno "no antivenom for lack of oxygen"....LMAO.

I love scrubs and own a few. I think they are an awesome animals but with them comes a great deal of respect and extreme caution when handling. Mine are small as they are only 2 1/2 years old, the male around 9 ft in length. I have handled much larger 16ft specimens and they are a lot of snake. They could surely kill you if you were not careful. Mine all seem to have fairly good temperaments and I hope they stay that way. They are always handled with caution and only when there is more than one person in the room. Not running a risk with them even at this stage. They are extremely alert and 'intelligent' snake which is why I enjoy them so much.

Just my thoughts......

Daz

Do you breed them Daz?

What size enclosure would be a good size for these snakes? Can they handle living outdoors tolerating natural weather conditions (on Mid-North Coast, NSW)? I am thinking of a large bird aviary so long as it don't take up my whole backyard.

How fast do these guys grow? I'd like to keep one indoors for as long as he can handle my largest indoor enclosure but then he'll have to go out once he starts getting past 7foot.

Doctor08 obviously you're in VIC but here in NSW we have to a Class 2 license to have a scrubby. For me thats another 12 months I've got to work on my hubby ...hehehe

Jonno how could a point like that be ridiculous. Its a fact.

that really is a good line.
i dont want to give advice because i have never kept them and im still a newbie, but the idea of a feeding response from a 14ft+ snake is fairly daunting. remember they are not particular intelligent animals and they dont bond with you.
