I have tried live hoppers, and watched through a slit in the towel I use to cover his tank during feeding, and I watched until he strangulates it. The next morning, I check again, and there is a dead mouse there. He loves killing them, but just won't eat them . He is done this 7 times since I've had him. He's a very effective hunter, but just doesn't want to eat them. It's a bit sad, as I hate it when mice die that way, and feel bad when it has been for nothing
Anyway, this pinkie trick has worked, so I'll keep trying that and move up a size. Thanks for the advice!!

Yes, I know, it must be an adjustment for them! Toowoomba doesn't have very nice winters. We have our heater in the reptile spider room on a thermo set at 25 degrees, as well as their gradial tanks, so they are keeping nice and warm. Problem is, to keep electricity down, we aren't using the heater for ourselves, so we are all walking around in big coats, or eating our meals in the reptile room. I think we should move in there with them.

I am REALLY scared of our first electricity bill, you should see our herp room in the new house.Speaking of which you should drop in and have a sticky beak if you like,we nearly have it set up completely,Tennilles spiders are all quite happy.
