My license arrived yesterday, and i got paid today. guess what all thats going on?
If you are a breeder of macs in brisbane, id love to hear about you im looking for a hatchling, preferably a blonde.
also, what _exactly_ do i need for a click clack setup?
at the moment, click clack, water bowl, hides, branches, heat mat, thermostat, dimmer switch, newspaper is the current thinking. am i missing anything, and does anyone have reccomendations on specific brands etc?
oh and if anyone can reccomend a vet in brisbane, its better to know in advance rather than panic when one might need it
many thanks

Sounds as if you're ready to go! Just make sure that you have a thermal gradient. So one side of the click clack is hot and one isn't

Thermostat and dimmer on a click-clack for a hardy species?....erm...I hope it wasn't the pet shop who told you those were necessary? Not that they are harmful but it sounds like you could be stressing a little-but that's better than not thinking about it at all
Other than that I'd a fan of using newspaper

I prefer paper towel myself, soft, and not as ugly as newspaper lol

Sound like you everything you need. Good luck with the Snakie, a good idea is to buy a thermometer just so you know that the thermo is holding up its end of the bargin. Eg, my thermo need to be set at 32 to get 30c in the hot end. Has to do with the placement of the thermo probe.

Like it says above, all you need is a heat mat down one end of the enclosure and make sure it's cool down the other end. Your snake will regulate its body temp. by moving between the two ends

The click clack cages that a lot of people seem to be fans of.. are they the clear plastic cages with well-ventilated coloured lids that have a little clear door in the middle? How can a heat mat be used on one of them, when the instruction manual clearly says the mat can only be used on a glass tank?
I've got a exo-terra desert heat mat and it says not to use it on plastic.

But while we're on the subjct and because you're a beginner perhaps someone could give insight to any brands of heat mat they know of that can get too hot/known for over-heating. I've never experienced it myself but I've heard stories. DEpending on the brand you buy you might need a thermostat.

click clack is just a term loosely used to describe a tub with a lid that "clicks" o "clacks" into locks - yes heat mats are fine with them as most are only 13 watts.

I've got a exo-terra desert heat mat and it says not to use it on plastic. | I've used heat mats under click-clacks for years with no problems. You just place them directly underneath. Perhaps I use a different brand to the one you have though.

here's my setup for my 2 month old childreni - big enclosure i know but she seems happy - not freaked out by all the space or anything.
i've got the heat mat taking up most of the right side of the click clack and the cool end obviously is on the left. she stays under the paper towel right in the middle of the container most of the time, so i hope that means she's quite comfortable.

I would just use a 4m 15 watt heat cord and a click clack no thermostat needed.

ps: note the heat mat is under a thin sheet of ply as per the instructions (microclimate heat mat)
apparently this helps distribute the heat evenly
