my female spotted has taken to sitting in her water bowl for long periods with her head hidden  is this normal? i am new to snakes  she scared the crap outa me when i first noticed coz id been away for the weekend, then cum home to find her looking very stuck in her water bowl.

some snakes will do this when coming up for a shed, in which case there is nothing to worry about.
on the other hand your snake might have mites, look for tiny creatures that might congregate in the heat pits or the fold of skin under his chin.
