Do what ever you and your python are comfortable with. Some say hooks are necessary some say you shouldn't use them at all. Its just personal preference.
In my experience with my own bredli a hook is not necessary. For my BHP it completely is a must have.

i use one if mine's looking snappy or just to get him out of those tricky spots but most of the time i find it easier just to pick him up with my hands

I know the feeling, I can be a little ham fisted with smaller juvies. If you are not getting a negative response from your Bredli then I wouldn't worry about a hook.

I always use a hook to get my snake out of it's enclosure only because I find that if I don't, she tends to try and strike me, but once she's on my hand, she's fine.

I have a yearling bredli she is great. I think if you are comfortable using your hands then go for it. Especially if your little one is placid. I only use a hook for the bigger pythons in my ground level tanks.

Go for it. It shouldn't bother the Bredli. I usually use one if it gets in a tight spot and I don't want to hurt it getting it out.

i found with the nerves/shaky hands when i first got my bredli i'l hit him with it more often than i'd succesfully get it under him,..
a 3 month old isnt gonna hurt, may as well get her used to hands.

yeah i have been bitten once and thats the only time he has ever looked at or has striked at me. the reason i asked this is because if i start to use a hook and then one day when he is bigger he bites me haha. he gets up the top of the wall and it is really deificult to get him under your finger. thanks everyone |

You can get yourself a little "pocket" hook from any good reptile product supplier for around $15-20.
l prefer to always use a hook to to let the snake know its me and the warm hand coming towards them is'nt a food item or trying to hurt them.
Snakes dont have eyelids so its hard to know whether they are sleeping when curled up, so l think a hook is a
good idea just in case they get startled and strike in fright....thats me anyway |
