Spotted pythons V. Childrens Pythons

I was wondering whether to keep a Spotted Python or a Childrens python. They both grow relatively small and around the same size which is what im looking for being a begginer snake keeper.
Thanx

Spotteds are hardier - my personal preference of the Children's group, however, are Stimson's Pythons - I like their markings and colouration better...

I would say spotted's are better but thats cause i've got one and he's great, never had a problem with feeding and is very easy to handle.

I am currently looking at buying my first snake as well and found www.snakeranch.com.au a really good site for looking at photos of the different types of childreni available. From all my research it seems to come down to personal preference as all are very similar. There are heaps of similar threads if you do a search. Hope this helps

mine is awesome natured but thats up to the individual snake.

Cape york spotted pythons are actually much bigger than childreni and can grow to over 1.5m, even the southern type get up to around 1.2m. They are also much more heavily built.

All the Anteresia species are great snakes to start with. It really comes down to which one you like best, all can vary in appearance too so have a good look around and dont rush in.

Spotties all the way! They keep their patterns and have a cool sheen over their scales!

I don't think so , there was a poll awhile ago asking what was the most common kept species and they came second ( i think ) ........
but there are plenty of people keeping them , myself included .......

I have both a spotted and childreni and they are both great!

So it really does depend on which one you like best when you see it.

Anteresia is the genus(or group) that spotted, childrens and stimsons belong too.
