Stimson pythons

Hey guys im bout to get my first snake and have been reading these forums for weeks. I was hoping someone with experience keeping a variety of snakes... including stimsons pythons could tell me generally what their temprement is like. I am very keen on getting one because i want a smaller snake as my first and i dont like any other's in the children's family. Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Adam

Lowndes - Stimmies are great, as young they can be a little snappy (all young snakes are snappy though) but as adults they are usually VERY placid...

My two are fantastic, calm and easy to care for snakes...

Adam,
Good choice.... their temprement is generally very placid, however like with all snakes there can be exceptions to the rule!

Our gorgeous 4 month old Stimmie is so placid and gentle, our 3yo daughter can handle her. She has never bitten and feeds like a dream. I understand there are exceptions, and we have probably been really lucky, but I can't rate our Stimmie (from Snake Ranch) highly enough.

Visit Facebook Profile
i have a stimmie and i'm soooooooo wraped with him. mine's never bitten or even looked annoyed at me despite some akward(sp?)/rough handeling on my part and has never ever refused a feed. i got mine at 10 monthes old and would recomend the same is it's your first that way they're nice and established and have a should have a solid feed history. if you're looking for a good beeder in NSW/newcastle area i would stringly recomenned Wokka from thsi site. i got mine from him and like i said absolutely wrapped.

good choice!

Just make sure you get one thats has had a few feeds and is eating well before you purchase, preferably even get it fed in front of you if possible aka find a reputable breeder.

ive got a snake ranch stimi, shes a bit of a fiesty one but meh every snakes different, its probably good getting a nip or 2 when there babys anyway, as i find its not pain but shock (there very fast) and once i got tagged once im not scared of being bitten by anything anymore...

oh and as Jason said find a good breeder, last thing you want with a first snake is the stress of one not eating...

Yeah go ford lol. Im from southern highlands area so i guess syd would be ok to travel to. I am still waiting my licence to return but a breeder in the illawarra named Garth who has a really good name has a few yearling stimsons for 250 at the moment. Hopefully my licence will return by then, my mate bought a few snakes from him and they r all really good.

Hi 888lowndes888 i too have been researching stimson pythons and am hoping to get one as i would prefer a smaller calmer snake. Lol! I think you have made a great choice.

Kenshin I see you are in Perth as am I and am very interested in these stimmies of yours that do not bite! Are you planning on selling them?

<o> Chris
