Stimson's help

Can someone please tell me the difference between the Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, N.T and Leigh Creek Stimson's ptyhons? If anyone has some pics, I'd really appreciate it!

Anyone please? Sorry to hi-jack your thread CassM.
Are there any good books.articules or papers on these?
I want to try to breed Stimmies in the future and want to start to get some animals now. I have a Tennant Creek on order and have juv. picture but not fully sure what adult looks like.
I have tried to research but have ended up with a hole raft of different descriptive names. Snake Ranch have some great pictures of 'Wheat Belts' and 'Sandfire'. SXR has I think 'Georgetown' where are all these from.
I believe it is very important the Herp community has this information readily available.
Surely we need to keep some purity of lines. There seems to be some dispute over whether or not these are all different sub-species.
Any help would be great.

There is no dispute about the taxonomy of Stimsons Pythons - they are all the same species of python, just different localities. There are two subspecies of A.stimsoni - A.s.stimsoni from the coastal areas of WA, and A.s.orientalis from the remainder of their distribution. A locality is the place where the parents of the snakes were originally caught. This has little effect on the actual husbandry and breeding of the snakes, however some localities seem to breed better under certain conditions than others. For instance, a lot of people have far greater success with Alice Springs and MacDonell Ranges animals if they breed them in a communal setting.

Cheers

Jonno

I'm looking to buy a Stimmie in a few months, I think the one I'm after is a Tennant Creek (orangey brown?) I'm having difficulty because the place I'm getting her has four different types and I don't know which ones which!

Here are pics of my 2 NT Stimmies. Very nice colours ATM but time will tell how they will turn out. I've seen very dark NT's and super light ones so it's a bit of a lucky dip.

The pics were taken about a month ago and they were 3 mths out of the egg. Very tiny and cute, have grown quite a bit since then.

I would have thought that people who had paid extra for a locale specific animal would have it in their interest to keep the purity of their animal for their own financial reasons!
